The Rapid Application Tourniquet System (R.A.T.S. U.S. Pat. No. 9,168,044) is the fastest tourniquet on the market and is used to stop massive hemorrhaging due to trauma. The Rapid Tourniquet uses a solid elastic core of proprietary material with a polyester sheath, combined with a patented locking mechanism to make an incredibly fast tourniquet to apply to self or others. No other tourniquet compares to the Rapid when being used under stress in terms of time or ease of use.
Generation 2 Features:
NEW: 120% longer to accommodate larger limbs!
The Rapid Tourniquet is:
•Easy to learn and use
•Simple design allows for one handed use
•Takes up minimal space allowing you to store almost anywhere
•Works on all limb sizes, i.e. adults, working dogs and children
•Proven to be effective in occluding blood flow in both upper & lower
extremities by the U.S. Army's Institute of Surgical Research
•Patented U.S. Pat. No. 9,168,044
When properly applied, the Rapid Tourniquet is a safe and effective device for controlling life-threatening hemorrhaging . The Rapid Tourniquet should be properly disposed of after use. Consult an EMS professional for proper training on any and all tourniquet use. Do not apply over solid objects. Read all directions and understand proper use before any attempt to render aid. If used due to trauma, go to the nearest hospital immediately.
This is a back up unit for my field kit! I like both units. Very pleased with the ease of use on self and others.
I think I wrote on previous purchase about chopping my foot with an axe. Made me rethink what I took in the field....I have watched a couple videos where folks use this tourniquet one handed. Have one in my truck, on my mc, one in a field kit and another in my house first aid kit. Maybe never use them...but beats a belt or piece of rope all to heck. Watch a couple videos...have a bad car accident, you may wish you'd bought one or two or three.
I bought 3 RATS Tq's, 1 each for my childrens school back backs, and 1 for me to carry on my person daily as EDC Tq. I own CAT's as well and hace them in my IFAK in each car that we own. But if you need a TQ and the CAT is in the Car out in the parking lot. It aint really gonna matter. It has to be with you on your person when you need it. Similar to having your pistol on your person and not in the center armrest of your vehicle, as so many CCWLH like to do. That gun in the car aint gonna help you in the store when the shooting has already started. The RATS allows me to carry it easily and discretly.
Glad I could get 3 tourniquets in a bundle. Now I can stash one in each vehicle, these are especially great for children and pets.
